We are pleased to announce that the central Atherton trail head is now complete.
Located at the end of Vernon Street [ANZ on one Corner, BV Hotel on the other on the right as you head towards the Herberton Road roundabout on main street] right on the rail trail is the brand new trail head shelter, pump track and skills area.
The shelter comprises 4 x sheltered picnic tables, change rooms, a bike wash area with hose, outdoor [cold!] shower, pump track and skills area, as well as signage and trail maps with toilets 50 meters away up Vernon Street.
Proceed 200mts along the rail trail to the left of the shelter and you will find the entry to Trail 1, the first of the AFMTBP trails. An easy ride of 1.5 km through the rain forest in the riparian zone next to the creek takes you to Rifle Range road, Turn right on to rifle range road, pedal an easy 1.5 kms and you will find yourself at the trail head proper.
As well as the great trail 1 entry to the park, utilizing the new trail head facilities means you are just a stones throw from great coffee, good food or perhaps a beer when you get back to the car after your ride.
