Houston Astros outfielder Taylor Trammell got hurt during Wednesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers. He crashed into the center field fence in the first inning and had to be taken off the field on a cart. The team said he was being checked for a possible concussion.
How the Injury Happened
The Tigers were already leading 4-0 when Dillon Dingler hit a ball deep into center field. Trammell reached out with his glove, but the ball bounced off it right before he hit the fence. Dingler made it to third base with an RBI triple, pushing Detroit’s lead to five runs.
Trainers Came to Help
After the crash, Houston trainers quickly came to check on Trammell. At first, he tried to walk off the field, but then he went down on one knee. A cart was brought in, and he was taken through the tunnel behind right field.
What the Manager Said
Astros manager Joe Espada gave an update after the game, which Houston lost 7-2. He said Trammell was being checked for a concussion and was also feeling stiffness in his neck and back. The team still expected him to travel to Baltimore with them later that night.
Recent Injury Scare
This was not the first time Trammell needed medical help this week. Just the night before, in Houston’s 1-0 loss, he had another scare. In the ninth inning, he fell on his back while catching a foul fly ball. Trainers came out then too, but he was able to finish that game.
